Vitoria-Gasteiz – between 12 and 17 July 2022
The Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival celebrates its 45th edition with its return to Mendizorroza and interesting proposals such as: Itamar Borochov, Atlantic Bridge, Thumbscrew or Pablo M. Caminero, among others.
The musical offer of the Festival is accompanied by other parallel activities with jazz as the main theme. Throughout the month of July, the Fundación Vital Exhibition Centre will be hosting an exhibition in which the artist Javier de la Torre will be showing a selection of his mosaics in which he portrays musicians and different personalities from the world of jazz.
In addition to the Festival, a Jazzimena cycle will be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz, which has been organised by the Basque Film Library since 2016. Every Thursday in July at the Artium at 19.00, some of the films that have best represented this musical genre on the big screen will be shown.
Donostia-San Sebastián – between 20 and 25 July
The 57th edition of the Donostia-San Sebastián Jazzaldia will once again bring together bands and soloists of the stature of Herbie Hancock, Kamasi Washintong, Gregory Porter and King Creosote, among many others. The Festival will once again bring to the capital of Gipuzkoa, in its 57th edition, the best national and international jazz music of the moment.
A total of 70 concerts, both free and paying, will be held in 13 smoke-free venues in the city. The paying concerts will take place at Chillida Leku, the Kursaal auditorium, the Victoria Eugenia theatre, the San Telmo museum and Trinidad square. On the other hand, the Jazzaldia has an extensive programme of free performances, until full capacity is reached. These will be held on Zurriola Beach, at Keler Gunea, Garbera shopping centre, Nauticool, FNAC Gunea, Kutxa Kultur and Frigo Gunea, in the mornings and afternoons. There will be a total of 47 concerts in which local groups will perform.
