Jazzaldia … and they’re going 54

The San Sebastian Jazz Festival (currently, Heineken Jazzaldia) began in 1966, making it one of the oldest in Europe.

This year is celebrated from July 24 to 28 and throughout its long history all the great jazz musicians have passed through the Festival, not in vain, fifty years go a long way: Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, B.B. King, James Brown, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Keith Jarrett, John Zorn …

The Festival has received several very important awards, including the Euskadi Tourism Award for Competitiveness 2015, awarded by the Basque Government, and the Medal of Merit for Fine Arts, in the person of its director, Miguel Martín, in 2016 More than 150,000 people come every year to the various stages scattered throughout the city.
