Ironman arrives on July 14 to Vitoria Gasteiz

More than 2.100 athletes, 3.8 kilometers of swimming, another 180 to pedal and the last 42 to run. So is this test of extreme hardness

This is the ‘Champions League’ in the world of Triathlon. It is about the Ironman, and this summer it reaches the Alava capital and its surroundings.
A test of long distance and extreme hardness to be held on July 14 and which will count in this edition with 2,100 athletes. A test that this year comes with news. The course will have characteristics similar to triathlon, but there will not be half, and, therefore, the distances are extended.

Everything will start in the Ullibarri-Gamboa reservoir. The athletes will have to swim a distance of no more and no less than 3.8 kilometers to then get on their bicycles and pedal through the territory of Alava 180 kilometers more. A cyclist segment that will have 970 meters of accumulated altitude. Finally, the athletes will have to run the 42-kilometer marathon through the heart of Gasteiz, in an established circuit with four laps.
When the test finishes, the organization will offer forty qualifying places for the 2019 Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.
