Nature in the Basque Country

Close your eyes. Visualize yourself in the middle of an oak forest, in the middle of a beech forest. Feel the nature, its smells, the sounds it hides. Stop imagining it, you can experience it in Euskadi.

The Basque Coast Geopark, the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve and the Txingudi Bay with the Txingudi Ekoetxea Interpretation Center as natural reference areas to which natural parks such as Aia, Aralar, Gorbeia, Izki, Urkiola and Valderejo, are the best places to lose yourself. Unique snapshot landscapes with walking trails, marshes, rivers and waterfalls that water them. Feel like a mendizale (mountain climber in Euskera) that climbs to the summits that crown the Basque sky like the Aitzgorri or feel like those who enjoy taking a pleasant walk by the biotopes of Itxina or the Lagunar Complex of Laguardia where life rages. Nature makes no distinction.

Stroll through Euskadi on the Salburua wetlands of Vitoria-Gasteiz, walk along the routes along the Green Ring of Bilbao, through the Donostia-San Sebastián mountains (Igueldo, Urgull and Ulía), visit the Plaiaundi Ecological Park Bay of Txingudi in Irun or transit to the edge of the sea between Zarautz and Getaria. Discover unique places like the footbridge over the largest dune biotope on the Gipuzkoan coast and the Mollarri minerals loading point in Zarautz and the protected biotope of the Lagunar de Laguardia Complex.

Trek in Talaia between Hondarribia and Pasaia or between Zarautz and Zumaia, along the routes of Jaizkibel, the Peñas de Aia (AiakoHarria), the Vuelta a Gipuzkoa GR 121 between Donostia-San Sebastián and Orio, the PR-GI 202 Mendiko Txakolina And PR-GI 201 Sustraia (circular paths of Urola Kosta), the green routes for the biodiversity of Álava and the Greenways as the Greenway of Bidasoa, amongst others. You can also enjoy birding in many parts of Euskadi that find their epicenter at the Urdaibai Bird Center. Or pedal for cycling itinerariesas Euroziklo.

With the shell of Santiago in your backpack, feel like a pilgrim on the Camino de Santiago through the interior of Euskadi and also along the Basque Coast.
