Donostia, great protagonist in the first week of climate change in Euskadi

The conference ' Change the change ' of the capital Gipuzkoa will be the central act of the Asteklima, more extensive in dates (from 1 to 10 of March) and that includes activities in other 48 Basque towns, like a parade of ' Slow fashion ' in Miramar or trips to the sea from Pasaia.

The already-presented international conference ‘ Change the change ‘, to be held in Donostia between 6 and 8 March, will be the central axis of Asteklima, the first week of climate change in the Basque Country. The framework of this is broader: from March 1 to 10, and with activities in 49 Basque villages: 23 of them will be developed in Gipuzkoa.

In addition to the Conference, which will bring together some 600 participants in their three days in the capital of Gipuzkoa, also noteworthy is a parade of ‘ Slow Fashion’en the Miramar Palace, promoted by the Diputación; Exhibitions at the Aquarium, Alderdi Eder and Boulevard Donostiarras; or boat trips to check the ravages of climate change.

This last activity will be developed aboard the Mater EkoMuseo del Mar. During the first two weekends of March, there will be boat trips open to the public from the port of Pasaia and the cliffs of Jaizkibel. According to their drivers, they will “dynamically” address the impacts of climate change on the marine environment, such as rising sea levels, disappearance of species, weather changes, etc. and working days-from 1 to 8-two daily school workshops will be offered to explain these impacts. Both boat trips and workshops are free of charge, although pre-booking is required.
