Bilbao celebrates the Aste Nagusia from August 19 to 27

Take the opportunity to enjoy the exhibitions by Yayoi Kusama, Oskar Kokoschka and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye at the Guggenheim Museum

Marijaia is par excellence the character of the Bilbao festivities, and this year, two other women will be accompanying her in the 43rd edition of Aste Nagusia as Pregonera and Txupinera. This year’s proclamation will be given by Aiora Renteria, the singer of the Zea Mays group, and Izaskun Pinedo will be in charge of launching the txupin. From that moment on, music, theater, folklore, fireworks, the Txikigune, the txosnas… will be shown in different areas of the city to enjoy a few days with a great atmosphere.

Since you are approaching Bilbao, we recommend its temporary exhibitions that you cannot miss at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao:

Lynette Yiadom-Boakye. No sunset so intense; Oskar Kokoschka. A rebel from Vienna and the long-awaited exhibition of Yayoi Kusama: from 1945 to today. The latter, converted into a true cultural icon, through her paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations and documentary material on her happenings and performances, the exhibition offers an in-depth analysis of her practice, from the first drawings she made as a teenager during World War II to his latest immersive installations with mirrors. A unique opportunity to discover the universe of Yayoi Kusama this summer.
