Basque museums prepare to celebrate their international day

On 18 May, the museums of the Basque Country will join in the celebration of International Museum Day with various activities, such as guided tours, concerts and free admission to most of the centres.

Araba/Álava Museums
The Alava Provincial Museum Network will offer four events under the slogan “Museo eragileak”. Two exhibitions will be held at the Fine Arts Museum and the Armoury Museum, a film series and a conference on meteorites at the BIBAT Museum.
Bizkaia Museums
A total of 44 museums in Bizkaia will join in the festivities, offering numerous free activities. These include the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and the Abanto y Zierbena Mining Museum, located in the Concha mine, one of the largest and deepest in Spain.
Gipuzkoa Museums
One of the museums in Gipuzkoa that will be holding one of the most special programmes is San Telmo, in Donostia/San Sebastián. It will open its doors free of charge and will offer two guided tours of its permanent exhibition. The Balenciaga Museum in Getaria and Chillida Leku in Hernani, among others, will also take part in this day.
