Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

MuseoGuggenheimBilbao

The impressive Guggenheim Museum Bilbao building was designed by the North American architect Frank O. Gehry.

It occupies a site measuring 32,500 m2 on the edge of the river Nervión, i.e. 16 m lower than the centre of the city of Bilbao and is crossed at one end by the enormous La Salve Bridge, one of the main entrances into the city.

In addition to the temporary exhibitions it organises on a regular basis, the museum has a permanent collection of works belonging to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Together, these two collections represent a major overview of the art and artists of the 20th-century.
