Retrospective of H R Giger:
Three decades after the film Alien first hit our cinema screens, an exhibition of works by the creator of that famous but terrible creature, Swiss artist Hans Ruedi Giger, comes to San Sebastian.
Until the 6th January 2010, more than a hundred works from this maestro of science fiction will be on show in the Kubo-Kutxa Exhibition Hall in the Gipuzkoa capital, among them the original head and replica body of the infamous monster for which Giger is most known. The originator of the Alien creature was awarded a Visual Effects Oscar for his work on the film directed by Ridley Scott.
The multi-talented Giger, one of the most influential artists of our time, has experimented with a plethora of disciplines throughout his career, that include drawing, sculpture, painting and design, always with an eye for the surreal and magical, combining the real with the artificial.
