The Bilbao River Maritime Museum is located in the drydocks of the old Euskalduna shipyard in Abandoibarra, symbol of the new Bilbao, defined according to three concepts: leisure, business and culture, and a river estuary which is recovering its character as the backbone of the metropolitan area. The total surface area covered by the Maritime Museum is 27,000 m2, arranged in 7000 m2 of indoor installations (exhibitions, media library, auditorium, store, cafeteria, etc.) and 20,000 m2 of outdoor exhibition areas, consisting of three dry docks. Around these, there is a promenade that allows visitors to walk around the outdoor exhibits and a long the river estuary.
