The local festive calendar ends on December 21 with
the festival of Santo Tomás, prelude to the long-awaited Christmas holidays of Bilbao.
The best turkeys, capons, fruit and vegetables from the "baserris" (farmhouses) of Vizcaya are
displayed on more than 300 stalls set up between El Arenal and Plaza Nueva. If it is your first
visit to this fair, don't leave without first having tried a thallus with savoury sausage
accompanied by a good glass of txakoli.
