The ‘Guide to a fine city’, published by the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz, on the occasion of FITUR, the International Tourism Fair celebrated in Madrid, brings together all offer of food and wine of capital of Alava. The guide specifies the ingredients that make European Green Capital 2012 in a fine city.
In the copy, appear the latest culinary awards of the establishments of Vitoria – Gasteiz, the events of the traditional and avant-garde creations as the “Week of Pintxo of Alava and the Rioja Alavesa Wine ‘, the’ Week of little casserole of Alava and the Rioja Alavesa Wine’, the International Fair of Wine and Gastronomy in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the National Congress of Author’s Cuisine or the “pintxo-pote’s” phenomenon. The guide also includes the different schools of hotel industry and cuisine of Vitoria-Gasteiz and the pool of professionals for restoration that the capital has.
The new brochure offers to visitors different routes as routes of pintxos, the sweet route, the delicatessen route and the wine bars route, so that they can take a culinary memory of Vitoria-Gasteiz. The information on these routes is shown by useful maps of the city where all the points of each route are specified. It also summarizes the most important establishments in each of these sectors to provide the widest range of possibilities for getting lost in the city.
The guide also shows various recipes of traditional cuisine as well as the two first prizes of 2011 editions of the “Week of little casserole of Alava and the Rioja Alavesa Wine”.
On the occasion of the meeting of representatives of the Network of Medieval Cities and Towns in Fitur, for picking up the award for Best Cultural Product of Active Tourism XVII Competition, it was decided that Hondarribia, a member of the alliance, will celebrate the fifth edition of “Medieval Pinchos and Tapas Contest”, the next 4th and 5th of May with chefs from each of the municipalities of the Network.
Hondarribia presides at present and in the past promoted the Network of Medieval Cities and Towns, integrated by ten state municipalities and two from Portugal. The XVII Contest of Active Tourism, announced by the magazines Aire Libre and Fitur Activo, has awarded to the Network with the prize to the Best Cultural Product of this edition.
More than 4.200 votes casted through www.airelibre.com and through the Website of Fitur decided the winners in the diverse sections. Specifically, there were for this category twenty-two candidacies. The prize was given in Fitur with the representatives of the municipalities of the Network of Medieval Cities and Towns.

From 23 to 25 September the historical center of Vitoria-Gasteiz celebrates the tenth edition of the Medieval Market. There will be entertainment shows, over 200 craft stalls and craft workshops, wich will occupy the streets and corners of the city.
The novelty this years features the return of the Fueros square qith the Great Medieval Torunament, wich will be two encores on Saturday at 22.00 and Sunday 17.00. Another novelty is holding a concert of a capella music, offered for the first time at the Convent of Santa Cruz. This concert will take a place Saturday and Sunday at 12.30 pm and the entry will cost 2 euros.
The proclamation of the inauguration will take place on Friday 23 at 19.00 in theMatxete square, and run by Mikel Gómez de Segura, founder and director of the Society of Arts-Transfer.
The market will be open from Friday 23 at 18.00 to Sunday 25 at 22.00.

On Friday September 16 starts the 59 San Sebastian – Donostia International Film Festival, which until the 24th will offer the public the best films of the moment.
The Official Section will present 20 films competing for the Golden Shell and the other official honors awards. In addition, the Zabaltegi section, provide a comprehensive overview of current films, through a selection of films previously presented at other festivals or films of emerging filmmakers.
Donostia Prize this year will be for the actress Glenn Close, who will parade down the red carpet with other actors, directors and film personalities, who will add a glamour note in San Sebastian.

From 12th to 18th of September Vitoria-Gasteiz becomes in the European capital of illusionism with the XXIII International Festival of Magic. 59 shows, 28 stages and 40 artists from a dozen countries will encourage the city in this magic week.
The protagonists of this week are the ukrainian Alexey Titarenko, the french Will Arno, Bebel and Benjamin Vianney. The argentines Brando and Silvana and the peruvian Bruno Tarnecci are some of the magus will visit Vitoria-Gasteiz this days.
One more year, the best magic show-window is going to be awarded with 10,000 euros.

Next Sunday, July 24, will be played on Spain Championship Middle Distance Triathlon in Vitoria, home of the World Championship Long Distance Triathlon in 2012.
The riders take the start Landa Provincial Park at 9:00 am and the test consists of 1,900 m Swim, 91 km cycling and 21 km race walk.
