The reconstruction of the Titanic, until February 19 in Bilbao

The life on the ship, the dramatic and emotional outcomes of April 15, 1912 in the North Atlantic, the different aspects of its construction and other details are exhibited in the thirteen thematic spaces of ‘Titanic: The Reconstruction’.

San Sebastián, candidate for “Best European Destination 2017”

Alicante and Valencia test the pintxos of Hondarribia

Gorka Souto, from Sardara, and Iñigo Tizón, from Gran Sol, are during today and tomorrow, February 6 and 7, in these localities offering their premium bars and pintxos. Souto, champion, and Tizón, runner-up of the last Pintxos Amstel Gold Championship – Euskal Herriko Pintxo Txapelketa held in October at the Kursaal Palace in San Sebastián, will display their culinary art in the master class of this professional meeting.

The aim is to convey the philosophy of Basque pintxos bars and miniature cuisine, explaining the basic principles of management, selection and construction of cold pintxos bars and their different slopes. In the show cooking part, they will make their main Premium pintxos.

Souto will present “Barbalada”: which won the Gipuzkoa prize for codfish, the most aesthetic pint in the Euskal Herria and also the absolute prize in the contest held in the Kursaal.

On the other hand, Tizón will cook “Ingot of duck to the orange”, based on traditional cuisine, careful and of product, looking for that the flavors take us to memories and that they have touch and presence of cooks of author.

In this event they will share cooks with other chefs like Kiko Moya of the restaurant L’Escaleta of Concentaina in Alicante with two Michelin stars; Alberto Ferruz from the BonAmb restaurant in Jávea in Alicante also with two Michelin stars, Fran Martínez from the restaurant Maralda de Almansa in Albacete from a Michelin star, among other renowned professionals.

 

 

Plan for this Saturday 4 February in Irun: show of cinema and live music

The documentary “Jai Alai Blues” (2015) by Gorka Bilbao will be screened, to which the group of Gernika Audience puts the music of the soundtrack playing live on stage.

 

The theme is very much our origins, our culture. The documentary tells the incredible story of the pediments in which practiced Jai Alai through famous people of that world. It is projected in the original version with subtitles in Spanish.

The Surf Championship Pro Zarautz 2017 will be held from 20 to 23 April

2017-01-19-photo-00000006Zarautz returns to host one of the tests of the European surf circuit. From April 20 to 23 of this year, in the waves of the city of Gipuzkoa will be played this championship that attracts more than 200 participants, the best surfers in Europe. It is organized by the World Surf League and the Guipuzcoan Surf Federation, with the support of the Zarautz City Council, the Diputación of Gipuzkoa and the Basque Government.

An event that transforms the city and is highly desirable even if you do not surf, since it generates a great atmosphere. Concerts, exhibitions of Basque rural sport…. “We have sea and mountain, tradition and modernity. Not only in summer, “said the mayor of Zarautz, Xabier Txurruka.

During the presentation at Fitur (Madrid) was noted as a novelty that this year goes up, going from QS1000 to QS1500 to reach $ 40,000 – some 37,630 euros – of prizes, matching the podiums in the men’s and women’s categories. Meet our maritime heritage this Sunday in Zarautz

charlas-itinerantes-2016What better way to know our maritime heritage than a guided tour of the places where it is concentrated. This Sunday 27 November in Zarautz Moila at 11.00 p.m., Jexux Mari Garmendia and Xabier Alberdi of Zarauzko Batelari Elkartea will offer the talk “Zarauzko itsas ondare biziaren azken hondarrak: Zarauzko Batelari Elkartearen eta Zarauzko Arraun Elkartearen egitasmoak”.

The talks are framed within the actions being developed by the Commonwealth and the municipalities of Aia, Getaria, Orio, Zarautz and Zumaia to promote the maritime heritage of our environment. This is the third consecutive year.
